Hyderabad, September 21 (IANS) in another operation to remove encroachment on government land, Hydra on Sunday removed the demolition of unauthorized structures in Gajulramaram in Greater Hyderabad.
The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (Hydraa) started a demolition on 100 acres on 100 acres in Qutubullapur constituency in Medal Malkajgiri district on Sunday morning.
The value of encroachment land is said to be Rs 4,500 crore. The agency, after receiving the complaint, raised the demolition that the encroachers are constructing houses at 60-70 square yards and selling them every 10 lakh rupees.
Hydraa officials demolished the structures in survey number 397. Local people protested against the agency action. He tried to oppose the demolition by standing in front of the bulldozer. However, the police removed the protesters.
Local people argued that they spent money to buy houses and this action should be taken against those who sold land.
Out of 300 acres, 100 acres were encroached in government land. The price of the entire government land is estimated to be Rs 15,000 crore.
The land located about 10 km from the IT corridor was allotted by the government to the State Finance Corporation, Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC), Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and Housing Board. With not using the land allocated with these institutions, some people encroached in land in recent years and built houses on it.
Some local leaders allegedly encroached on about 103 acres of land in the last 3-4 years. The market price of land in the area is Rs 40-50 crore per acre.
Encroachment land built on the land was sold to people working in Qutubulpur, Gajulramaram, Chintal and surrounding areas. With the connivance of some officials in revenue and electricity departments, construction on encroachment land was given electricity and water connections.
Hydra removed several encroachments in and around the city in the last year.
Chief Minister A. Revantha Reddy called Hydra last month a great system to protect Hyderabad by taking action against encroachment on water bodies and parks.
He claimed that Hydra has so far protected government land worth Rs 30,000 crore and freed 13 parks and 20 lakes from encroachment.
Revantha Reddy said that Hydra was formed to create a safe destination for Hyderabad to live and curb the encroachment of water bodies. Saying that flood problems are faced in cities like Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai, he said that Hyderabad should not witness such plight.
