Hyderabad, Nov 4 (IANS) Hyderabad Police has arrested a woman and nine others for kidnapping her husband for ransom.
Police said on Tuesday that 55-year-old M. Madhavi Latha is the main accused in the case. After selling ancestral property worth Rs 20 crore, she hired another accused to kidnap her husband, Minister Shyam.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Eastern Zone) B Bala Swamy, four more suspects are absconding.
Police said that Madhavi had hired people for the kidnapping by promising Rs 1 crore. Shyam and Madhavi were living separately for three years.
The police officer said that after receiving a missing complaint, the police had formed special teams to trace Shyam, collected technical evidence and launched a thorough investigation.
According to police, the kidnappers took her to Vijayawada in several vehicles on October 30 and demanded money. Rs 10 lakh for his release. The next day, they brought him back to Hyderabad to withdraw the ransom from a bank in Banjara Hills, but the victim fled before the ransom could be collected.
Police investigation revealed that while the main accused wanted to take the victim’s signature and grab his property and liquidate it, the second accused wanted to extort ransom from the victim.
Lata hired Durga Vinay and others to spy on him and later kidnap him for ransom. Durga Vinay, with the help of Durga Prasad and 10 others, kidnapped the victim from DD Colony under Amberpet police station limits on October 29.
According to the police, three main accused had planned the kidnapping. Durga Prasad arranged for operatives, conducted recce in DD Colony, rented a flat next to the victim’s house, monitored every movement of the victim and executed the plan of his kidnapping on October 29. However, they failed to get the ransom as the victim escaped from their clutches.
