Hyderabad, 7 October (IANS) Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar warned on Tuesday that strict action would be taken against those using mobile phones while driving.
The police chief of the city faced ‘X’ to warn the violars. He said, “Many drivers, including auto-rickshaws and cab/bike taxi drivers, are often seen using earphones while watching or driving. It is dangerous and a punishable offense. Hyderabad Traffic Police will take strict action against such violators,” he said.
“The safety of the self, passengers and fellow road users is paramount. No distraction is worth a life – be focused, safe,” he said.
Last week, the office of police has already taken a difficult stand on drunk and drive matters as Police Commissioner.
In the last week, the police have intensified the campaign against drunk drivers.
After taking charge, the gentleman described drunk drivers as “road terrorists”. He said that they pose a threat not only to themselves but also to others.
“While driving in an intoxication, they do not know that they will kill someone or kill themselves. They are like suicide bages. They can kill one, two or more after coming on the streets,” the gentleman said.
The police chief said that the families had lost loved ones due to such careless behavior. Saying that teams were already dealing with traffic violations, they said, if necessary, their number will increase.
The traffic management was stated as one of its priorities, the gentleman said that millions of new vehicles are added every year, the crowd is deteriorating and affects both time and health.
While serving as the Commissioner of Police of Cyberbad, Sajjanar said that people driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol are no less than the terrorists who kill innocent people who kill indiscriminate people on the streets.
“Against all the popular misconceptions, it has been found that most of the drivers are highly educated, employed person. Stunning, many of them have lived in some big cities such as New York, Melbourne, Singapore and Dubai, where they never think of violating any traffic rules. Roads,” they said.
