On the second day of the ongoing Khelo India Water Sports Festival (Kiwsf), Spotlight fell on local talents as athletes at the center of Sai Jammu in Nehru Park Srinagar, which had two medals underlining Jammu and Kashmir in the National Water Games.
The young pair of Sajjad and Muhammad Hussain brought Laurel to Jammu and Kashmir by winning a silver medal at the 500m C -2 (canoe doubles) event.
Adding to the state medal tally, Muhammad Hussain demonstrated his skills by receiving a bronze medal at the 1000 meter C1 (Dongy Solo) event.
Both athletes are trainees of the Extension Center in Sai Jammu, who is being successfully run at the state -of -the -art Water Sports Center in Nehru Park, Srinagar in collaboration with J&K Sports Council (JKSC).
Centers located on the coast of Dal Lake have emerged as a cradle to prepare the youth water sports talent, offering modern features, professional coaching and world class equipment.
Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nujat Gul in-Person congratulated the medal winning athletes for their brilliant performance, and appreciated their determination and discipline.
He emphasized that such achievements show the transformational role that Nehru Park is playing in shaping the future of the water game in the Water Sports Center area.
The ongoing Khelo India Water Sports Festival 2025, which will end on August 23, has converted the iconic dal lake into a grand platform for competition and celebration, which includes athletes across the country in events such as canoeing, kayaking, rowing and performance races.
