Friday evening turned into a nightmare for one California Family after a woman was allegedly set on fire by her husband of 10 years – an attack that has left her children shaken.
Shawn Hoffman, 42, is accused of intentionally setting his wife Sheena on fire by pouring highly flammable liquid on her. KFSNHe was arrested on the spot itself.
Tulare County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the couple’s home in Porterville around 5:30 Friday evening. They found Sheena, a mother of seven, with severe burns to her face, arms and torso.
Sheena’s adult son, Michael Post, told KFSN that he was at his home when he got a call from his sister about his mother and stepfather that changed everything.
“She was like, ‘You need to go to mom’s house now,'” Post said. “Your stepfather covered her with gasoline and said he was going to set her on fire.'”

He said his mother and Hoffman were married for nearly a decade and shared a blended family with seven children. Although he never witnessed physical violence between them, he said that they argued frequently.
“Her house is where everyone goes. It’s always like if someone needs something, they call her,” Post said. “She’s always the one who runs to help people when they need it.”
Sheena was airlifted to the burn unit at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. His condition remains stable but he still has a long way to go to recovery, the post said.

“I never dreamed I would have to do this, but my mother Sheena died yesterday in a horrific domestic violence incident,” the post read.
“We are asking for donations to help with gas and food for me and my siblings and hopefully we will raise enough money to help with my mom’s bills until she makes a full recovery.”
Hoffman is charged with aggravated assault and arson. He remains behind bars at the South County Detention Center.
