New Delhi, July 29: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday described the separatist Amalgam Hurriyat Sammelan as a “organization of terrorist organizations” and made it clear that the Modi government would never engage with it for any dialogue.
Participating in a special discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, Shah also said that there was a time when the leaders of the Hurriyat Conference received VIP treatment and the government used to talk with it.
“There used to be a red carpet for Hurrit. Representatives of the Manmohan Singh government had interacted with him. We banned all the components of Hurrit and everyone is now behind bars. We do not want to talk to Hurrit.
He said, “I want to repeat the policy of the Narendra Modi government – Hurrit is an organization of terrorist organizations. We will not talk to them. We will talk to the youth of the valley,” he said.
Hurrit, formed in 1993, is a amalgamation of many Jammu and Kashmir-based separatist organizations. It is considered as a pro -Pakistan group for its views, activities and political statements over the years.
Talking about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Shah said from 2004 to 2014, 7,217 terrorist incidents took place in Kashmir and from 2014 to 2025, the incidents have come down from 70 percent to 2,150.
“From 2004 to 2014, 1,770 citizens died. It decreased by 80 percent from 2014 to 2025. From 2004 to 2014, the death toll of security personnel was 1,060. It decreased by 542 in our time. And the deaths of terrorists increased by 123 percent.”
The Home Minister said that between 2005 and 2011, there were 27 terrorist attacks, but what the Congress government did, they only sent to Pakistan.
He said, “Terrorists are now sent from Pakistan to Jammu and Kashmir as there are no local terrorists in Kashmir. Scrapping of Article 370 has destroyed terrorist ecosystems in Jammu and Kashmir.” (Agencies)
