Forecasters issue update as Hurricane Melissa heads toward the Bahamas
Hurricane Melissa is headed toward the Bahamas this evening as a Category 1 hurricane with winds of up to 90 mph, according to an 8 p.m. update from the National Hurricane Center.
“On the forecast track, the main body of Melissa is expected to move across the southeastern or central Bahamas this evening, and pass near or west of Bermuda late Thursday night,” the agency said.
The storm is expected to strengthen this evening, before weakening again tomorrow.
