At the summit, Pai questioned the role of politicians across party lines, urging accountability and action.
He wrote, “The question is which politicians of which political party are part of this garbage mafia? According to citizens, politicians from all political parties are involved in it.”
Calling on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to take responsibility, he said, “So @BJP4India should clean up its act, identify the members involved and take action. There is extreme corruption in both parties, the coming governments are more corrupt.”
Pai’The comment from BJP Karnataka came in response to a post which shared a snapshot of an article quoting Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar as saying, “Heavens and earth changed, but the mafia is not allowing us to clean the garbage.”

BJP’s caption read, “Translation: Mafia runs the city, @INCKarnataka is incompetent and powerless.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Late. shivkumar He said his government has “moved heaven and earth” to tackle the garbage crisis, but the “mafia” was hindering progress.
He said, “Even BJP has not succeeded and till now we (Congress) have also not succeeded because the garbage mafia is not allowing us to work. I am working heaven and earth, but the mafia is involved in it.”
“Even in Delhi it will take 1.5 hours to reach Parliament from the airport, but Bengaluru is making more noise than Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad,” he said during a discussion on ‘GBA: Transformative vision for Bengaluru with GBA’.
He said managing Bengaluru city is ‘not an easy task’ and people have a lot of expectations here. “Bengaluru’s biggest challenges are mobility, solid waste management and drinking water issues. Bengaluru is not a planned city. There are a lot of encroachments… We have good gardens and lakes. We have to keep the environment clean,” he said.
