The Navi Mumbai International Airport will be inaugurated on 8 October, which is expected to start commercial operations by mid -December 2025. Before the onset of flights, the terminal approach area must be completed, followed by CISF security approval should be checked-a process that will take about 45 days. The Airport Authority of India will then give its final approval.
Initially, the Air Traffic Control (ATC) will operate flights from 8 am to 8 am, meaning that only day operations will begin. Since international flights usually work at night, they will be introduced later.

The airport will begin with a runway and a terminal, which manages 10–12 air traffic movements per hour and up to 20 million passengers annually. The second terminal is expected to be prepared by 2029, by adding capacity to 30 million passengers, it was planned to handle 90–100 million passengers annually with a total of four terminals.

Boarding facilities include 29 aerobridge gates and 10 bus gates. The airport aims to become an international center, which enables direct connections from India to major global cities, which reduces dependence on the Middle Eastern transit hub. It is designed for spontaneous transfer between domestic and international flights without customs and immigration. However, feeling this hub model will require policy support from the government.
