Despite gaining a lead of 46 runs in the first innings, Team India has managed to upset England on the third day of the ongoing fourth Test in Ranchi. India shook up England’s batting order, with Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav doing the damage. Ashwin took the ball forward by taking the wickets of Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope and Joe Root, after which Kuldeep destroyed England’s batting. The left-arm spinner refused to follow India captain Rohit Sharma’s advice and dismissed a well-set Jack Crawley on the very next ball.

In the 29th over of England’s second innings, Kuldeep was seen having a long conversation with Rohit, who suggested that it would have been better if he had brought the fielder in.

However, Kuldeep managed to convince Rohit that he should keep the fielder at the boundary fence. His move proved to be gold as he dismissed Crawley on the very next ball.

Crawley, who was batting on 60, was caught by surprise when the ball turned back inside and grazed his off-stump. Rohit acknowledged Kuldeep’s talent as he moved forward to hug the player with a cheeky smile on his face.

Meanwhile, Ashwin (5/51) and Kuldeep (4/22) shared nine wickets as England were bowled out for 145 in their second innings, leaving India with a target of 192 runs in the final session of the third day.

Playing at 120/5 after tea, England could not deny Kuldeep, who continued to trouble the visiting team’s batsmen and also added more wickets to his account.

After taking important wickets of Zak Crawley (60) and Ben Stokes (4) in the second session, Kuldeep dismissed Tom Hartley (7) and Ollie Robinson (0) in the third session.

Ashwin helped India make a comeback by taking three wickets in a row after the hosts took a lead of 46 runs in the first innings.

Ashwin, the senior bowler in the line-up, returned to the attack to complete his 35th five-wicket haul in Test cricket, surpassing former captain Anil Kumble to take the most wickets in this format for India on home soil.
