How Florida students survived large -scale shooting using chewing gum

A student of Florida State University used chewing gum to cover his class windows with paper Collective shooting On Thursday.

One of the students, Jeffrey Laughray recalled the moment and said that while the gun bullet was being fired nearby, he and his classmates were trying to hide and safe inside it.

He told Good Morning America that his teachers wanted to cover the windows with paper so that the shooter could not see inside, but he did not have tape to stick the paper. Therefore, the students started chewing gum and then used it to paste the paper to the windows.

Recalling a terrible moment, he said, “The teacher was asking if either of us had tape to tape some paper. And no one had tape, and so some of us, we just started coming out of our gum and chewing so that we could stick to some paper windows.”

A collective shooting took place near the university campus, allegedly performed by the half -son of a local deputy sheriff. 20 -year -old Phoenix Ikner Used her step mother’s former service weapon to carry out the alleged attack.

Another FSU graduate student recalled a rigorous encounter during large -scale shooting.

A 23 -year -old, Madison Askins shared an incident how she survived pretending to be dead. Recalling an incident, Ms. Askins said that when she was shot in the buttocks, she was walking with a friend near a Sangh building.

He told ABC News, “When I was shot in the buttocks from behind, I fell to the ground, kept my eyes closed, and played dead. I released all the muscles of my body, closed my eyes, closed my eyes, and stopped my breath. And when I need I would take short breaths in the middle.”

Ms. Askins mentioned that she hopes to escape from the shooter’s eyes if she plays dead. He said, “I know if I was moving forward, he must have shot me again,” saying that the students heard their weapon again loading and said, “Keep running.”

Two people have been killed and five others were injured in large -scale shooting.

Mr. Ikner is currently hospitalized as he was shot by the police during the incident.
