Hot Dock Film Festival co-founder Debbie Nightingale dies

Debbie Knightingel, co-founder of Hot Dock Film Festival, died on 71.

In 1993, Knightingale began a showcase in collaboration with experienced documentary filmmaker Paul J, which will develop in Hot Docks at Canada’s largest documentary film Festival.

He also produced several films, TV shows and documentaries, including the 2004 hockey dramacy “Chiks with Stick” and the 2010 series “Living in Your Car”, a dark comic look in the corporate downfall.

Hot Docs said in a statement that Knightingale “recognized the importance of filmmaking filmmaking” and “a place where filmmakers, funds and audiences could be connected.”

His obituary noted that he operated the Haute Bakri Farm, which is a 200 acre assets in Port Hope, Onts.

A statement on the Facebook page of the farm said, “Debbie was not only the founder, but the true heart and soul of Haate goat – a dreamer, a doer, and an inspiration for all who had crossed their path.”

“His love for animals, people and land was every journey, every experience and the magic behind every smile on the farm.”
