Chandigarh, October 29 (IANS) Former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday alleged that thousands of families have been financially ruined due to unemployment.
He said, “Illegal immigrants are being deported from the US in a disgraceful manner, of which the largest number are youth from Haryana. It is very unfortunate that these youth are being sent back to Haryana in shackles like prisoners.”
He said, “These youth had gone to America due to unemployment. They had even sold their properties and houses to go there. Each youth spent Rs 50 to 60 lakh to reach America, but now they are suddenly being sent back.” The former Chief Minister said that as a result thousands of families have been completely ruined and burdened with debt.
“The BJP government, which has been in power for 11 years, is directly responsible for this as it has completely failed to provide employment to the youth of Haryana within the state,” he said in a statement. Hooda said various reports and government data show that Haryana “remains the number one state in the country in terms of unemployment and crime. As a result, no investor is willing to invest in Haryana.”
“Due to lack of new investment, employment is not being created, unemployment is continuously increasing and youth are being forced to migrate from their state.”
The Congress MLA said that the BJP government itself is planning to send its youth abroad, which cannot be a more unfortunate situation than this for any state.
He said, “Today, the youth of Haryana are traveling to America, choosing the dangerous ‘dinky’ route, migrating to war-torn Israel, and getting ready to fight on Russia’s side in the Russia-Ukraine war. This means that BJP-sponsored unemployment has now reached not just Haryana, but abroad.”
Hooda said this situation is not only creating an economic crisis but is also tearing apart the social fabric, with families breaking apart and youth turning to depression and crime.
