Patna, November 8 (IANS) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Grand Alliance leaders, accusing them of protecting infiltrators in Bihar’s Seemanchal region and vowed to remove them.

Addressing a rally in Purnia’s Banmankhi assembly constituency, Shah asked voters to support efforts to detect and expel those he termed as illegal entrants.

“People of Seemanchal, tell me – should these infiltrators be removed from here or not? Rahul Gandhi and Lalu’s son had taken out a ‘Save Infiltrators’ march in Bihar a few weeks ago. They want Seemanchal to become a stronghold of infiltrators. But today I announce from the land of Seemanchal that we will work to drive out each and every infiltrator from Bihar. These infiltrators would have taken away the jobs of our youth. They take away the share of ration from the poor, and make the country insecure,” he said.

Shah vowed to clean up the encroachment allegedly done by such people.

He said, “Today I announce in Banmankhi that we will not only remove the infiltrators, but will also completely demolish the encroachment they have done and free the land of Seemanchal from them.”

The Home Minister reiterated BJP’s long-standing claims that Seemanchal – which includes Purnia, Araria, Kishanganj and Katihar, has a sizeable Muslim population – is vulnerable to illegal cross-border migration due to its proximity to Bangladesh.

Voting will be held in the second phase in Seemanchal region on November 11.

He also attacked RJD’s 15-year rule.

Shah said, “During the Lalu-Rabri regime, MLAs were murdered in broad daylight. Looting, murder, extortion and kidnapping – these industries flourished. Nitish Kumar has ended Jungle Raj, but Jungle Raj is trying to return in a different guise. Your every vote will prevent the return of Jungle Raj.”

He took aim at RJD’s selection of candidates and mentioned the name of late Bahubali leader and former MP Mohammad Shahabuddin, while warning of the party’s penchant for criminal elements.

Shah said, “Lalu’s party has given ticket to Shahabuddin’s son Osama in Siwan… There is no place left for any Osama or Shahabuddin on this land of Bihar.”

He said that Bihar elections are now a contest between two camps.

He said, “There are two camps in this election – on one side there is a scattered alliance of thugs, and on the other side there is NDA like the five Pandavas. Voting has taken place in half of Bihar. Lalu and Rahul’s party have been completely wiped out in the first phase. NDA government is going to be formed in Bihar with more than 160 seats. Under the leadership of PM Modi and Nitish Kumar, Bihar will move forward and become a developed state.”

He referred to the Ayodhya dispute while accusing previous governments of delaying the construction of Ram temple.

“550 years ago, Babar demolished the temple of Lord Ram in Ayodhya. Since then, first the Mughals obstructed it, then the British obstructed it, then the Congress obstructed it and then Lalu Yadav obstructed it. When you re-elected Narendra Modi in 2019, he laid the foundation stone in 2019 and then consecrated the temple by chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in 2024.”

He also linked it to the Sitamarhi Sita Mandir project.

“Goddess Sita is the daughter of Bihar. Now the foundation stone of a temple dedicated to Goddess Sita has also been laid in Sitamarhi. A grand temple of Goddess Sita will be built here within two and a half years at a cost of Rs 850 crore.”
