New Delhi, October 16 (IANS) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday greeted the National Security Guard (NSG) on its raising day.

Addressing the 41st raising day celebrations of the elite force in Manesar on Tuesday, the Home Minister described the NSG as “the country’s strongest shield against terrorism and organized crime”.
Paying tribute to the security personnel who sacrificed their lives, he said, “We all remember those who sacrificed their lives for the security of the country; I want to salute them on behalf of the entire country.”
The Home Minister acknowledged the vital role of the NSG since its formation in 1984, highlighting its decisive actions in critical operations such as the Akshardham temple attack, 26/11 Mumbai attacks and various hostage rescue operations. He reaffirmed its status as India’s premier counter-terrorism force.
The Union Minister announced a major expansion with the establishment of a new NSG hub in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
This increase will bring the presence of the force to seven major centers across the country including Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Jammu, ensuring quick response capability.
He stressed that NSG commandos will be deployed round the clock to deal with any terrorist threat.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Home Minister stressed that India has adopted a “zero terrorism policy”.
