New Delhi, Nov 1 (IANS) Union Home Minister Amit Shah has predicted a massive victory for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections and claimed that the alliance will win 160 out of 243 seats and form the government with a two-thirds majority.
Speaking at the NDTV Bihar Power Play Conclave, HM Shah expressed unwavering confidence in the support of the voters. The Home Minister remarked, “Bihar is one of the most politically conscious states in the country.” He said that people have seen significant progress in the last two decades.
He credited the CM Nitish Kumar-led government for changing the law and order situation in Bihar, which he described as the basis of development.
“Ask any youth today, and they will tell you how safe Bihar feels under the leadership of Nitish Kumar,” he said.
Presenting a detailed report card of Bihar’s development, HM Shah highlighted major achievements including the construction of four bridges on the Ganga, construction of ten more bridges in the pipeline, a comprehensive blueprint for self-employment and almost eradication of Maoist activity.
“Earlier the discussion revolved around dacoity and violence. Today, it is about progress and opportunity,” he said.
Reiterating the stance of the NDA leadership, HM Shah firmly declared that Nitish Kumar will remain the face of the alliance.
He confirmed, “I have made it clear fifty times – we are fighting the elections under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. He is our Chief Minister.”
However, he also said that the final decision on the chief minister’s post will follow constitutional procedures after the elections.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-led opposition Grand Alliance has named Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate and has repeatedly criticized the NDA for not announcing him.
HM Shah rejected these jibes, suggesting that the NDA’s unity and track record outweighed political theatrics.
As Bihar heads into a crucial electoral battle, HM Shah’s comments underline the BJP’s strategic confidence and its reliance on Nitish Kumar’s governance legacy.
The NDA’s campaign appears to be focused on showcasing developmental milestones and stability, positioning itself as the natural choice for Bihar’s future.
