“His strategy with everyone”: American Treasury Secretary on Trump Tariff Pose

US President Donald Trump stopped a large part of his tariff scheme after a sharp decline in stock and bond markets and increasing pressure from business leaders, MPs and global colleagues.

The 90-day stagnation was announced on Wednesday, a few hours after the tariff was officially effective. He shared the update on his social media platform, meeting Treasury Secretary Scott Besant and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik at the Oval Office.

The markets rose immediately after the post.

Besant said that the break was part of the scheme. He said, “This was his strategy,” he told reporters, The Wall Street Journal,

He met Trump on Sunday to discuss this. Wall Street is worried about a possible recession, calling all weekends.

Sources close to the White House stated that Trump’s decision came after several major factors: a submerged bond market, the growing criticism of top trading leaders like JP Morgan Chase CEO CEO Jamie Dimon, and growing calls from abroad demanding business deals.

Besant, now seen as more dominated within Trump’s business team, played an important role in persuading the President to stop.

Trump’s internal circle said that he was committed to “take pain” for his major economic goals, but did not want to risk the country in depression. The tariff stagnation follows the days of lobbying from both wall street and capital hill. Officials moved to Republican MPs to raise their concerns, warning that the tariff policy could severely damage the economy.

Trump, who usually estimates advisors, made a final call on Wednesday morning.

Besant, who earlier stated that it may take months to finalize tariff deals with different countries, said on Wednesday that the US economy “No,” no, at a point in a very distant future “will return to firing on all cylinders”.

He also cited a strong diplomatic reaction for tariff stagnation. According to him, “a” heavy “response from countries that are coming from those countries who want to sit on the table instead of moving forward.” Bessent named Japan, South Korea and India, “I will pay attention that they are all around China. We are coming to Vietnam today.”

According to Bessent, more than 75 countries have allegedly reached to interact.
