SHIMLA: Three people are reported missing while several vehicles have been washed away in flash flood at Laila panchayat of Chirgaon area under Rohru sub division of Shimla district on Saturday morning.

The process of cloudburst and landslides in Himachal Pradesh is continuing while moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm at most places in the Bilaspur, Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Mandi and Hamirpur districts coupled with isolated spells of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in these districts have been warned by the meteorological department.

A cloudburst reported in Laila nullah under Chhohara block of Chirgaon tehsil of Shimla district caused extensive damage in the area. Three persons from the same family of Jagoti village were buried under the debris after they were trapped under the debris.
According to information Roshan Lal of Jagoti village and his wife Bhaga Devi were running a dhaba in Laila. On Friday night their grandson Karthik was also with them in Laila. The dhaba was washed away in the heavy flood in Laila nullah. After which all three are missing. Police and administration along with the local people have started relief and rescue operations with the help of earthmovers.

Many houses have been damaged in the area while several vehicles have also been washed away. The cloud burst occurred at around 3 am and at that time people were sleeping in their houses when the flash flood swept the area.

Similarly, many areas of Jubbal, Kotkhai, Theog, Kumarsain, Kotgarh in Shimla district have also suffered a lot of damage due to heavy rains on Friday night.
Due to heavy rains, the hospital premises of Kotkhai have been filled with debris and a wall has collapsed near the Kotkhai bus stand and there has also been a landslide in front of the police station Kotkhai. Electricity supply has also been disrupted in the area.
The national highway 5 has also been blocked for traffic near Bharara under Kumarsain tehsil of Shimla district due to heavy rains and debris on the road.
