Bengaluru, Oct 19 (IANS) Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra welcomed the High Court’s decision to allow the centenary march of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Chittapur town in Kalaburagi district, the native place of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, saying it was a victory for democracy.
Vijayendra said on Sunday, “The High Court’s decision to allow the foot march of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Chittapur is a victory for democracy. The High Court has reprimanded the Congress government of Karnataka, which had attempted to snatch away democratic rights and upheld the dignity of the Constitution.”
He said, “Those who tried to ban the RSS foot march in Chittapur have been humiliated. Today’s court verdict has sent a clear message that there is no place for authoritarian rule in a democratic system. It is also a lesson for those who make tall claims about the Constitution during the day but work against it in practice.”
Vijayendra said it is the duty of the government to allow cultural and public awareness programs with appropriate conditions to maintain law and order. He said, “However, if the government tries to strangle democracy in the name of law and order, the Constitution of the country will not permit it. This message has been strongly conveyed through today’s judgment. The Congress Party’s devious policy of targeting nationalist organizations has become ineffective with the court’s judgment.”
Commenting on denial of permission to the RSS foot march, he criticized Minister Priyank Kharge and said, “In Chittapur, it is those who boast in the name of the Constitution who are actually snatching away constitutional rights. The Tehsildar’s refusal to grant permission to the RSS centenary celebrations citing non-submission of 12 documents and details resembles the dictatorial style of a tyrannical ruler of North Korea.” Kim Jong-un.”
He alleged, “It seems that Minister Priyank Kharge is fond of the dark history of the Congress party, which once imposed emergency on the country. For this reason, he is trying to impose emergency-like administration in Kalaburagi district, using Chittapur as a test bed.”
The BJP leader said a suffocating atmosphere has been created in Chittapur which makes a mockery of the spirit of the Constitution and the democratic system envisioned by BR Ambedkar. He said, “If the conditions imposed on granting permission for RSS foot marches and events are implemented across the state, it will become impossible to organize any cultural or nationalist event anywhere in Karnataka.”
He said, “What has started today in Chittapur is a battle between dictatorship and democracy. The Bharatiya Janata Party will accept this challenge and start the struggle to protect the Constitution and democracy.”
