A private helicopter is approaching Lobuche Everest Nepal Civil Aviation Authority spokesman Gyanendra Bhul said the base camp built to rescue stranded trackers crashed on Wednesday (October 29).
The footage shows the helicopter lying on its side after slipping on ice during landing.
The pilot survived and was rescued. It is unclear whether the trackers were saved at the time of the accident.
The Nepali and Chinese parts of the Everest region had to be closed for tourism on Wednesday due to heavy snowfall caused by cyclonic winds.
Authorities have stopped trekking on many routes due to rain in low-lying areas and heavy snowfall on higher routes. Hikers have been asked not to venture out or proceed with their journey in Annapurna, Manaslu and Dhaulagiri areas.
