Police There has been a scramble for the scene of helicopter crash near Doncaster A helicopter crashed in a field soon after taking off on Thursday morning.
emergency services Called to Ings Lane, Bentley at 10.15am and attended South Yorkshire Police Officer. An air accident investigation team has also been deployed.
The helicopter is believed to have been a private flight that took off from near Gamston Airport fix it It hit the ground just moments ago. It is not clear how many people were on board or what condition the pilot is in.
An eyewitness living near the accident site said yorkshire live: “We just missed our house! We live at the very end of the road next to the train tracks.
“I spoke to some of my neighbours. I don’t think anyone actually saw it come down, but at first we all thought it was a train crash because we saw all the emergency services firing shots.”
 
A cordon has been set up around the crash site and police are urging people to avoid the area and use other routes where possible.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has deployed a team to investigate the incident. A spokesperson said: “The AAIB has been made aware of an accident near Doncaster and have deployed a team to launch an investigation.”
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “Ings Lane is closed while we respond to this incident.
“Please avoid the area and plan alternative routes where possible. Further updates will be provided as they become available.”
 
The helicopter appears to have landed on its side and its debris is scattered around the field. This four-seat light aircraft is reportedly the Robinson R44 Raven II.
A spokesperson for Retford Gamston Airport said the helicopter was parked by a hirer at the airport and confirmed it had been involved in an incident.
