Chennai, October 5 (IANS) The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) at Chennai has released a weather vigilance on Sunday, forecasting heavy rainfall in 12 districts of Tamil Nadu.
Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Tirupattur, Namakkal, Tiruchirappalli, Dindigul, Tabi, Veerudhunagar, and Shivganga districts with thunder and lightning at some places with districts.
According to the latest bulletin, widespread rainfall was reported in most parts of the state on Saturday. In Krishnagiri district, Hosur recorded the highest rainfall at 12 cm, followed by Dindigul 11 cm. Each of Avalurpet and Semmedu received 10 cm of rain in Vilupuram district.
Meteorologists credits rain in a low pressure area in the southern peninsular region and a low pressure area in the surrounding areas of Tamil Nadu.
This weather system is drawing moisture from the Gulf of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, accelerates local convection and increases the possibility of thunderstorms.
In addition to heavy mantras, light from light is forecast from Monday to October 10 in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karikal.
While in most areas only intermittent showers will appear, RMC has warned of residents in weak districts, which are about the possibility of intense, short-term rainfall, leading to local floods in low-level areas.
The Meteorological Office also released a temperature advice, indicating a state of ups and downs in the next 48 hours. In some districts due to frequent cloud cover and rain, the maximum temperature in some districts is expected to fall 2-3 degrees Celsius, while some internal areas may experience a slight increase of 2-3 ° C as dry pockets.
The authorities have urged the public to be vigilant and avoid waterfall areas, while farmers have been advised to plan fieldwork and harvesting activities accordingly.
To respond to any emergency, disaster management teams in rain-fired districts have been placed on standby. RMC said it would continue to monitor the developed weather patterns and provide timely updates. Residents have been encouraged to follow official advice and track alerts through government channels and weather apps to ensure safety.
