Heather Watson will miss this month australian open But operations are expected to resume by the end of February.

The 33-year-old has dropped to No. 269 in the world after suffering a gluteal tendon problem last summer and is currently No. 9 in the UK.

Watson has not played since late August, when she lost in the first round of qualifying for the US Open, and has now revealed she will miss the Australian summer season.

“I’ve really missed my goals and the daily challenges that tennis gives me,” Watson said on Instagram in Florida, where she now trains.

“I can’t wait to play on tour again. If all goes to plan, hopefully at the end of February.

“Missing Australia this year really hurts my heart, but it also lights a fire inside me.”

Watson wins mixed doubles title Wimbledon In 2016, during the difficult 2025 season, he lost in the first round of SW19 singles.

She did reach the semifinals of the WTA 125 event in Puerto Vallarta in March, but did not win a main-draw Grand Slam singles match. Her last victory came in qualifying at Eastbourne in June.

Watson reached a career-high ranking of No. 38 in 2015, the same year she lost to Serena Williams in the third round of the tennis championship. Wimbledon.
