Ace Frehley, A founding member and for guitarist KissDied on Thursday at the age of 74.
His friends and fellow Kiss band members paid tribute as follows:
“We are devastated by the passing of Ace Frehley. He was an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier during some of the most formative foundational chapters of the band and its history. He is and will always be a part of Kisslegacy of. Our hearts go out to Janet, Monique, and everyone who loved them, including our fans around the world,” the founding members of Kiss said in a statement.

“I heard about Ace Frehley’s passing from Rick Friel, who I played with in a band called the Shadows. Rick was the first person on the bus with the KISS lunchbox in 1977 who told me about Ace…just changed my life. I got a guitar to join Rick’s band Warrior in 1978, which turned into the Shadows. We covered “Come on and Love Me.” All my friends Have spent countless hours talking about KISS and buying KISS merchandise. Ace was my hero. And I would also consider you a friend. I studied their singles relentlessly for years…I wouldn’t have picked up guitar without the influence of Ace and KISS.
