Last updated: February 7, 2024 20:26 UTC

Following a massive explosion at a firecracker factory in Hatta town, the government has sealed six firecracker warehouses in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district over the past 24 hours for various violations.

Indore Collector Ashish Singh told reporters that one of the six firecracker godowns was located in a residential area, while irregularities such as stocking of firecrackers exceeding the permissible limit and lack of adequate security arrangements were found at the other godowns.

“We have sealed six firecracker warehouses in different parts of the district in the past 24 hours,” he said.

An explosion and fire broke out at a firecracker factory in Hada town on Tuesday, killing 11 people and injuring more than 200 others.

The state government has formed a three-member committee to conduct a detailed investigation into the Khatta incident.

The panel is also authorized to hold accountable officials who should have prevented such incidents from happening.
