Haryana Rights Panel takes cognizance of inhuman punishment to a student of class 2

Chandigarh, 3 October (IANS) Haryana Human Rights Commission has taken cognizance of a shocking incident, which included a seven -year -old class 2 student of Srijan Public School in Pinip and the accused saw the accused “serious violation of human and child rights”.

It is alleged that the school’s principal Reena along with the school bus driver Ajay subjected the child to inhuman physical punishment, which was not only to complete the homework. The child was reportedly reversed from a window, repeatedly slapped, and a video of this cruel act was recorded and broadcast.

The complainant, the child’s mother, came to know about the incident only after watching the video on social media. It has also been alleged that the principal was seen slapping students in another video and was seen pulling their ears, and regularly forced children to clean the toilets and classes as punishment.

During the confrontation, the principal admitted to calling the driver to discipline the child, but refused to authorize such cruelty. However, the facts showed that instead of ensuring safety, school staff imposed severe physical and mental trauma on the child.

The driver allegedly threatened the boy with serious consequences when he allegedly disclosed the incident.

When the complainant’s family approached the driver, a group of men threatened them not to pave the matter forward. The police have registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Nyana Code of India and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

The entire bench of the Commission, including Chairperson Justice (Rated) Lalit Batra and Members Kuldeep Jain and Deep Bhatia, saw that the incident is a direct violation of the United Nations Conference on the rights of the Children (UNCRC), especially Article 19 -All types of physical or mental violent, injury or eightvas (2), disciplines, disciplines, disciplines, disciplines, disciplines, disciplines.

The Commission further said that the incident is for violation of statutory security measures under Indian law. Schools should protect and nurture children, not they low or humiliate them.
