Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij on Wednesday directed officials to check the income and paying capacity of the person making the big bid. Rs 1.17 crore for a fancy vehicle number, but failed to pay by the deadline.

Last week, the Hisar-based man was declared the successful bidder after making the highest bid for registration number HR-88-B-8888.

After paying initially they had to pay by Monday Rs 1,000 more as participation fee

To participate in the online bidding process, Rs 10,000 will have to be deposited as security deposit.

Badhra subdivision of Charkhi Dadri district had received the highest bid amount. Rs 1.17 crore for registration number after bid from Hisar resident.

On Wednesday, Vij took cognizance of the bid winner not paying the amount within the stipulated time.

“I have issued strict instructions to the transport department officials to check the actual income and assets of the bidder. It should be confirmed whether the person actually has the financial capacity to bid or not 1.17 crore,” he said.

his bail amount The amount of Rs 10,000 will be forfeited and that number will be re-auctioned in the auction process.

The minister said that fancy numbers in Haryana are allotted only through auction.

People often bid very high to obtain these numbers, he said, an act that also helps the state earn revenue.

However, he said the recent incident indicates that some people are taking the auction process as a mere sham and not a responsibility.

He said that a written request is being sent to the Income Tax Department for a thorough investigation so that in future no one can participate in the auction with false financial claims or without adequate economic capacity.
