Haryana: Congress MP Dharam Singh Chhaukkar’s troubles have increased with the High Court asking him to surrender otherwise he will be arrested.

During the Haryana Assembly elections, the Punjab High Court ordered Congress MP Dharam Singh Chhaukkar to surrender. MLA Dharam Singh Chhaukkar has been accused in a case related to money laundering. A petition was filed against him in the court by a social worker from Panipat. The petition states that he is still campaigning in his constituency despite having a non-bailable arrest warrant against him.

Let us tell you that Chhaukkar is contesting again from Samalkha constituency in Panipat in the Haryana Assembly elections to be held on October 5.

Choka approaches the court

A bench headed by Justice Sureshwar Thakur on Tuesday said Chawkar must either surrender or be arrested by Wednesday. He is currently facing a case registered by the Enforcement Directorate on charges of money laundering and other crimes. Several FIRs have been registered against him and the ED is also probing him, the petition said. The petition claimed that in one case, a Gurgaon court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant. Choka filed a lawsuit in the High Court but received no relief.

Haryana Attorney General Baldev Raj Mahajan said a petition has been filed before the Divisional Magistrate for hearing. The petitioner said Chhaukkar was facing many cases and the ED was taking action against him and a non-bailable arrest warrant was also issued against him but he was campaigning openly. And no action was taken against them. The court directed him to surrender by Wednesday or be arrested.

Earlier on July 25 last year, the education ministry raided several premises linked to Chhokar and his son as part of a money laundering investigation related to an alleged real estate fraud. The ED registered a case against Chhaukkar in 2021.
