Sonipat, November 14 (IANS) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday inaugurated the 72nd State Level Cooperative Week in Sonipat city.
Addressing the gathering, he said that the soul of India resides in villages and the path of progress passes through cooperation.
He said that this year is being celebrated as ‘Year of Co-operation’ and this event will play an important role in achieving the vision of prosperity through cooperation and self-reliance.
The Chief Minister urged the youth to leave the traditional mindset, form cooperatives and transform them into global brands through the power of Digital India.
Chief Minister Saini said, “We should remember the millions of people who, with their small savings and collective strength, built a strong cooperative movement. Today India is the fourth largest economy in the world and is fast moving towards becoming the third largest economy.”
He said, cooperation is important to achieve this goal.
The Chief Minister said that in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged to strengthen the cooperative sector and established a dedicated cooperative ministry for the first time in history.
“Taking forward the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government has resolved to transform cooperative societies into a mass movement.”
CM Saini said that Haryana is continuously progressing in the cooperative sector.
He said RuPay Kisan Credit Cards have been issued to more than 300,000 farmers across the state through 19 district central co-operative banks.
He said that in addition, 21 Primary Agricultural Credit Society centers have been selected for construction of godowns.
He said that no interest is charged on crop loans from the members of primary cooperative societies who repay the loan on time.
So far, the scheme has provided interest relief of Rs 1,223 crore to 531,652 farmers.
Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited is setting up a Mega Food Park in Rohtak at a cost of about Rs 180 crore under the Mega Food Park Scheme of the Central Government.
