Tarn Taran, Oct 30 (IANS) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Thursday asked the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to give them one task for Punjab, and appealed to the people to support her regional party, which has always fought to protect their rights.
The Bathinda MP, who held several public meetings in Tarn Taran assembly constituency in favor of party candidate Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa, said the Akali Dal is committed to enhancing various schemes launched for farmers and the poor after forming the government in 2027.
By-election will be held on Tarn Taran Assembly on November 11.
“We will give less house for house. Old age pension will be increased, apart from this, provision of five lakh jobs will be made for the youth. We are also committed to ensure jobs only for Punjabis and will also stop outsiders from buying land in Punjab.”
Urging people to support the regional party, Harsimrat Badal said: “SAD has never lied for political gains. We have always kept our promises, be it ensuring free electricity to farmers for tube well operations or launching new social welfare schemes like old age pension, atta-dal and shagun. Both Congress and AAP have done nothing but fooling people. Congress reneged on its promise of loan waiver but did nothing While AAP announced that it will make Punjab drug free, it is giving protection to the drug mafia and has also become a party to selling drugs.
Holding Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann responsible for large-scale corruption and lawlessness in Punjab, Harsimrat Badal said, “We have seen how AAP leaders like Vijay Singla, Fauja Singh Sarari and Amit Ratan were indulging in corruption. Recently we have also seen how DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar was collecting crores of rupees for AAP every month, raids at his residence resulted in Rs 7.50 crore in cash and documents related to 60 properties. Four kilos of gold was seized.”
He said Punjab is suffering because AAP is looting the state and transferring money to fill the party coffers in Delhi as well as contest elections in other states.
Urging people to support the party candidate, Harsimrat Badal said, “We must show solidarity with the righteous Fauji family whose members sacrificed their jobs and faced repression as their sentiments were hurt by the attack on Sri Darbar Sahib by Indira Gandhi.”
