“Hardik Pandya the worst IPL captain”: What X users say about the former Indian star. His reply was… | Cricket News

Former India batsman Aakash Chopra has slammed a fan for misquoting him for criticizing Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya. According to a post on the X social media platform, Chopra lambasted Hardik for his poor captaincy performance during MI’s match against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Wednesday. The fan account also claimed that Chopra urged Hardik to resign as captain, failing which the team should remove him from the captaincy. Prior to this, MI dropped the IPL record at odds of 277/3 against SRH.

“The worst captaincy I have seen so far among any captains in the history of IPL. Hardik Pandya did a very bad job indeed. Hardik should relinquish the captaincy himself or Mumbai Indians should remove him ,” one fan account quoted Chopra as saying. .

Chopra, however, denied making any such remarks regarding Hardik’s captaincy.

“Kuch bhi? Any engagement thing? Don’t spread lies bro. Wrong statement. My name is spelled wrong. What’s wrong with you?” Chopra replied in the post.

Coming back to the match, SRH registered their first win of the season by defeating MI by 31 runs. MI, on the other hand, have lost two matches in IPL 2024 so far.

Hyderabad’s innings ended with 18 sixes and 19 fours as MI’s South African off-fielder Kwena Maphaka had a frustrating performance in the IPL, with the 17-year-old left-armer Kuaishou scored 66 points in four rounds.

SRH’s 100 points came in just 7 overs, while Hyderabad posted the highest total in the history of the tournament with 148-2 in the first 10 overs.

MI responded strongly in this match by hitting a total of 38 sixes, setting a new IPL record and surpassing the 33 they had hit the fence three times in previous seasons.

“Wickets are good but no matter how well you bowl, if the opponent scores 277, it means they are batting very well,” Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya said.

He added: “The bowlers performed well. The match was tough. The score was close to 500, so the wickets are helping the batsmen.”
