Hamilton Man arrested in midwife recruitment scam

The Toronto Police has arrested a person in connection with the scam recruiting a child spread across Canada.

Officials say the scam lasted from October 2024 to August 2025, with the person allegedly used “Ashley Turnbull”.

The police allege that the suspect sent the victims an inquiry into the fraud, asking them to deposit money in their accounts, and then transferred the money back to him.

The man allegedly claimed that the money was for the supply and material required for the midwife.

However, when the victims deposited the check and transferred the amount, they later found that the checks were fraud and the money was never recovered.

Police arrested 31 -year -old Kim Mangett of Hamilton, and accused him:

  • Seven meanings of fraud under $ 5000;
  • Seven meanings of possession of property obtained by crime;
  • Another person matters to work on a fake document and;
  • Income of crime

Manget is scheduled to appear in the court in Ontario Court of Justice, 10 Armary Street on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 2 pm, 2 pm, Room 202.
