Cairo:

The Hamas armed group Qassam Brigades said through the organization’s Telegram channel on Sunday that Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in the past 96 hours killed two Israeli hostages and seriously injured eight others.

“Their situation has become more dangerous by the inability to provide them with adequate medical treatment. (Israel) takes full responsibility for the lives of those injured as a result of the continued bombardment,” a statement about the remaining hostages said.

According to Israeli statistics, Hamas agents killed 1,200 people and kidnapped at least 250 people in southern Israel in an unprovoked invasion on October 7. Israel has launched military attacks on the Gaza Strip that have killed more than 28,000 Palestinians, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.

During a week-long truce in late November, Hamas released more than 100 Israeli and foreign hostages in exchange for Israel’s release of about 240 Palestinian prisoners.

Israel’s chief military spokesman, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, said on Tuesday that 31 of the remaining hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip were dead.

“We have informed 31 families that their captive relatives no longer exist and we have declared them dead,” he told a regular media briefing.

Israel says 136 hostages remain in Gaza.
