Chandigarh, Nov 20 (IANS) Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh on Thursday said Indian Railways will operate special train services to facilitate smooth and dignified travel of devotees during the commemoration of the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru revered as Hind Di Chadar.
Respecting the immortal legacy of the Guru’s sacrifice for religious freedom, truth and human dignity, Indian Railways is committed to ensure that pilgrims visiting the holy city of Anandpur Sahib, the foundation of which was laid by Guru Tegh Bahadur, enjoy safe, seamless and comfortable travel arrangements during this holy period, an official statement said.
It said that to cater to the anticipated increase in the number of pilgrims, the Railways will operate two dedicated services from November 22 – one from Patna Sahib and the other from Old Delhi.
The special train with 22 coaches will leave from Patna at 06:40 am on November 23, which will reach Anandpur Sahib at 04:15 am on November 24.
The return service will depart Anandpur Sahib at 21:00 hrs on 25 November, reaching Old Delhi at 23:30 hrs. The train will stop at Lucknow, Moradabad and Ambala on the way.
A daily AC special service will depart Old Delhi at 07:00 am on 22, 23, 24 and 25 November, reaching Anandpur Sahib at 13:45 pm on the same day. Return services will depart Anandpur Sahib at 20:30 hrs daily and reach Delhi at 03:15 hrs.
This service will stop at Sonipat, Panipat, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Sirhind and New Morinda in both directions.
The Minister said that these services reflect the continued dedication of Indian Railways to provide accessible and reliable travel options for the large number of devotees visiting this holy occasion.
He confirmed that Railways is honored to support the pilgrimage associated with the life and teachings of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur.
Indian Railways urges passengers to plan their journey accordingly and use these special services for a seamless travel experience.
