Unidentified gunmen opened fire on Pakistan’s Gwadar Port Authority building in the restive Balochistan province, Geo News reported on Wednesday.
The two attackers were killed in retaliatory firing by security personnel, the TV channel said, adding that there was an explosion before the shooting.
Gwadar’s deputy commissioner and police did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Gwadar is located near the Strait of Hormuz, an important oil transportation route in the Arabian Sea.
The deep-water port is key to the multi-billion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which also includes road and energy projects and is part of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative.
China has invested heavily in mineral-rich Balochistan province under its Belt and Road Initiative, including developing the Gwadar port, despite decades of separatist insurgency in the region.
Chinese targets have been attacked by multiple terrorist groups in Pakistan before. In August, gunmen attacked a convoy of Chinese workers in Gwadar, an attack claimed by the separatist Balochistan Liberation Army.
