Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi confirmed that DNA samples of 144 victims in the Air India plane accident have been successfully matched by 12 noon on Tuesday.
In a post on X, Sanghvi said, “Air India Crash Update: By 12 noon, 144 DNA samples have been matched.”
The test was being done by teams of FSL and National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU).
Earlier on Monday, Sanghvi confirmed that DNA samples of 125 victims were successfully matched in the Air India plane accident, and 124 families of the deceased were contacted. The mortal remains of 83 victims were handed over to their families.
The minister visited Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Gandhinagar, where the deceased’s DNA was being tested.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital Rakesh Joshi said on Tuesday that the number of students of BJ Medical College remains at four due to Air India accident.
Talking to media persons, Rakesh Joshi said, “… the death of the students of BJ Medical College stands on the toll 4. It has not gone up.”
He also said that the confidence that survives from the accident is in a stable position and is slowly improving.
Joshi said, “Vishwas (alone survivor of flying accident) is stable and is slowly improving,” Joshi said.
The British National Kumar of Indian origin was seated in the Row 11 on the Left Window seat in the Economy Class section of the flight, located just behind the emergency exit.
The London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft crashed at a hostel complex on June 12 at a hostel complex immediately after the takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, killing 241 passengers and crews, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupni.
The funeral of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was demonstrated in Rajkot with full state honors on Monday.
His son Rushab Rupani was cremated of former CM, who lost his life in an Air India plane accident in Ahmedabad on 12 June.
Top political leaders attended the funeral ceremony, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devavrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who gave their final honor to the late leader. (AI)
