Ahmedabad, Oct 31 (IANS) In a display of patriotism and unity, 21 Shaurya Chakra awardee officers and personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) – who were honored for their extraordinary courage and service during ‘Operation Sindoor’ – participated in the ‘National Unity Day’ celebrations held at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat.
Officials paid tribute to ‘Iron Man of India’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity and reiterated their commitment to safeguard the ideals of national integrity and unity.
His presence on the world’s tallest statue commemorating Sardar Patel symbolizes the enduring spirit of India’s defenders and their role in maintaining the unity of the country.
The delegation included Ravindra Rathod (Deputy Commandant), Devi Lal (Inspector), Sahib Singh (Head Constable), Kanwar Jas Singh (Constable), Rajappa Beatty (Assistant Sub-Inspector), Manohar Jhalko (Constable), Udayveer Singh (Assistant Sub-Inspector), Alok Negi (Assistant Commandant), Vyasdev (Sub-Inspector), Suddi Rabha (Constable), Abhishek Srivastava. BSF officers and personnel like (Assistant Commandant), Bhupendra were included. Bajpai (constable), Basavarajappa Shivappa Sunakada (constable), Brijmohan Singh (head constable), Deepeshwar Barman (constable), and Rajan Kumar (constable).
Representing the CRPF were Vikrant Kumar (Deputy Commandant), Jeffrey Hemingchullo (Inspector), Saddam Hussain (Constable), Faida Hussain (Constable), and Sanjay Tiwari (Constable) – all recognized for their extraordinary bravery during challenging operations.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the Statue of Unity is not only a monumental tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel but also a testament to the strength of the collective national spirit.
He said that what makes this statue remarkable is that it was created as a result of a mass movement connecting people from every corner of India.

The Prime Minister also shared a post from the ‘Modi Archives’, reminding how the idea of the Statue of Unity was first conceived in October 2010, when Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
“In October 2010, then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi shared a vision that aimed to bring the country together. He wanted to honor Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as the Iron Man of India, by building the world’s tallest statue,” the X Post said.
