Gandhinagar, Oct 13 (IANS) Gujarat is currently celebrating a week-long ‘Vikas Saptaham’ under which various theme-based programs are being organized highlighting the inspirational journey of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in public service for 24 years.
As part of these celebrations, “Krishi Vikas Diwas” will be celebrated on 14-15 October, during which farmers will be introduced to modern agricultural practices, technologies and innovative approaches.
This program will be launched across the state by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel.
Sharing information about the Rabi Agriculture Mahotsav-2025, Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel said that the Mahotsav is being organized at 261 district and taluka level locations across Gujarat as part of the ‘Vikas Saptah’. From MPs and MLAs to senior government officials will be present during the inauguration of the events.
Around 3 lakh farmers from across the state are expected to participate in the two-day Rabi Agriculture Festival. During the festival, progressive farmers and cattle herders will be specially honored by the administration.
Assistance sanction letters and orders worth approximately ₹500 crore will be distributed to more than 5 lakh farmer beneficiaries.
Additionally, agricultural scientists and experts have also been deployed to provide technical guidance to farmers on sowing of crops during Rabi season in their respective areas. Progressive farmers and representatives of farmer-producer organizations (FPOs) will also interact on various topics.
The Minister further said that farmers will be introduced to modern agricultural technologies and organic farming methods for Rabi crop cultivation through crop dialogues, demonstrations involving innovative agricultural technologies and briefings on various farmer-centric support schemes.
The Animal Husbandry Department will also organize free animal health camps at many places in two days, which will benefit the animal farmers.
About 2,800 exhibition stalls are being set up, showcasing progressive farmers’ products, organic farming methods, modern agricultural technologies like drone technology, agricultural and soil testing, farmer-relevant research and awareness about the use of new age fertilizers.
Notably, in 2005, the then CM Narendra Modi had started a new tradition of Krishi Mahotsav, aimed at enabling agricultural scientists and experts to directly interact with farmers, solve their problems, provide expert guidance, introduce them to innovative farming methods and conduct research based on farmers’ issues.
