Gandhinagar, Oct 20 (IANS) Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has extended warm wishes to all citizens of Gujarat – brothers, sisters and fellow Gujaratis across the world, including those currently living abroad, on Diwali and Vikram Samvat 2082 New Year.

In his message, he extended his warm wishes to families everywhere and urged everyone to celebrate the New Year with renewed enthusiasm, happiness and a collective spirit of prosperity.

Reflecting on the symbolism of Diwali, the Chief Minister remarked that the garland of glowing lamps serves as an eternal inspiration to move from darkness to light.

Inspired by this spirit, Gujarat continues its upward journey of development inspired by the inclusive vision of ‘Sauna Saath, Sauna Vikas’ – Everyone’s Cooperation, Everyone’s Progress’.

He appealed to citizens to support local traders and artisans during the festive season, encouraging purchasing from domestic producers under the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative.

Through the ‘Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar-Ghar Swadeshi’ campaign, he called upon every household to adopt the ethos of self-reliant India.

The Chief Minister further said that the Prime Minister’s “next generation GST reforms” will bring a double dose of festive cheer, streamline business operations and accelerate the pace of growth. Gujarat is witnessing unprecedented development and prosperity, he said.

In his New Year message, CM Patel reaffirmed India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047. Gujarat’s own roadmap – Vikas Gujarat@2047 – aligns seamlessly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national aspirations. Through the ‘Agenda for 2035’ the state has set ambitious targets for comprehensive development.

He expressed confidence that in this new year of Vikram Samvat, Gujaratis will rise with determination to realize the dream of a developed Gujarat, thereby contributing to the vision of a developed India. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel marked the festive spirit of Diwali by shopping with his grandson in Gandhinagar and celebrated the occasion with warmth and simplicity.

In a gesture that impressed the public, the Chief Minister personally visited the local market and met sellers and buyers.

They enthusiastically bought traditional items, including earthen lamps, in support of the ‘Swadeshi’ movement and the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative – indigenous craftsmanship and small-scale traders.

During his visit, Mr Patel had a friendly interaction with the stallholders and wished them a very happy Diwali.

His down to earth demeanor and genuine conversation left a lasting impression on the local community. Many were surprised by the Chief Minister’s humility, saying that Bhupendrabhai once again embodied the sentiment that a Chief Minister is, at heart, a “common man”.

His presence in the marketplace served as a reminder that leadership, when rooted in humility, can bridge the gap between governance and everyday life.

Highlighting the emergence of Gujarat as the growth engine of the nation, he proudly announced that Ahmedabad will host the Commonwealth Games in 2030 – a very proud moment. He said that the rich culture and dynamic development of the state will continue to inspire the entire nation in the years to come.
