New Delhi, Nov 23 (IANS) Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel directed to shift a scheduled government function in Jamnagar to ensure that the wedding of a local family could take place without any disruption.
The decision came after concerns were raised by the family of Sanjana Parmar, whose wedding was planned to be held at the city town hall on Sunday.
According to details provided by the family, preparations for the wedding were in their final stages when they learned that the Chief Minister was scheduled to visit Jamnagar the next day, November 24, where a public function was also planned at the same town hall.
With security arrangements and police deployment beginning ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit, the family feared that the increased protocols might create problems during the wedding ceremonies.
The matter was brought to the notice of the Chief Minister’s Office, following which Chief Minister Patel issued instructions to change the venue of his official event.
According to officials familiar with the decision, the Chief Minister directed, “The venue of our event will be changed, the concern of the family is our concern.”
Speaking about his relief at the decision, the bride’s uncle Brijesh Parmar said the family was worried about possible disruptions.
βIt was difficult during the wedding season to secure a new venue, inform guests and arrange everything afresh β but a reassuring call from the chief minister allowed us to sleep peacefully that night,β he said.
Parmar said the chief minister personally spoke to the family and assured them that the wedding could take place at the original venue without any disruption.
The decision ensured that the wedding could go ahead as planned, and avoided logistical challenges arising from last-minute venue changes during the peak wedding season.
This incident highlights an example of administrative flexibility and attention to citizens’ concerns, reflecting a governance approach that acknowledges the impact of official programs on the day-to-day lives of residents.
