Patna, October 18 (IANS) Amidst the Bihar Assembly election campaign, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reached Bihar on Saturday to campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Addressing a public meeting in support of BJP candidate Virendra Singh in Wazirganj in Gaya district, Patel appealed to the voters to ensure the return of the NDA government in the state.
Earlier in the day, Virendra Singh filed his nomination from Wazirganj assembly seat.
Extending his support, Bhupendra Patel appreciated the development work done under the NDA government, especially the improvement in road infrastructure.
He said, “There is a lot of difference between the roads of earlier and today. Bihar is progressing rapidly under NDA.”
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Patel commented, “PM Modi says that everyone worships the rising sun, but the people of Bihar also worship the setting sun. That is why Bihar is called paradise land.”
Highlighting the potential for cooperation between Bihar and Gujarat in sectors such as industry, education and agriculture, Patel said the NDA’s policies focus on the welfare of farmers, youth, women and the poor.
Addressing the gathering, BJP candidate Virendra Singh said, “The people of Wazirganj are like my family. My aim is to serve the area by creating employment opportunities for the youth and ensure overall development.”
The rally saw enthusiastic participation from leaders and workers of BJP, JDU and other NDA allies.
The campaign of top NDA leaders is going on in full swing in Bihar.
On Friday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav attended the nomination ceremony of BJP candidate Prem Kumar from Gaya City seat.
Wazirganj assembly constituency, created after the 2008 delimitation, is a general category seat, with about 93 per cent Hindu voters in 150 villages.
Since its inception, it has seen three assembly elections – in 2010 and 2020 won by the BJP, and in 2015 won by the Congress.
In the last election, BJP’s Virendra Singh had won by about 70 thousand votes by defeating Congress candidate Shashi Shekhar Singh by 22,430 votes.
