Surendranagar (Gujarat), November 4 (IANS) A grand felicitation ceremony was organized in Surendranagar, Gujarat on Tuesday to welcome the newly appointed state BJP president Jagdish Vishwakarma.
The event was attended by BJP workers from across the district, who gave a warm and hearty welcome to the state party president, including a lively bike rally to the venue.
The function was inaugurated with the welcome speech of District President Hitendrasinh Chauhan and workers from every booth of the district, especially farmers, were present to welcome the newly appointed leader.
Before addressing the gathering, Jagadish Vishwakarma paid respects to saints and spiritual leaders and personally met farmers affected by unseasonal rains in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, he expressed solidarity with the farming community, highlighting the support he has been receiving from the BJP government and said: “When I met the 70-year-old farmer today, he said no party president has ever come to his farm, put his hand on his shoulder and assured him that the government stands with him. BJP is the first party to extend such support.”
Vishwakarma stressed the state government’s efforts to reduce damage caused by untimely rains and talked about the success of schemes led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that have helped farmers increase their crop yields.
He also credited local leadership and engineers for efforts like providing water to Saurashtra and supporting farmers and artisans of Gujarat.
Taking a dig at the opposition parties, he commented, “Many people have suddenly claimed to be saviors of farmers. Those who failed to manage Delhi and Punjab are now trying to disrupt the peace of Gujarat. Farmers of Gujarat will never forgive such attempts. Unlike other parties, which need to bring outsiders to meetings, our workers come in large numbers on their own.”
He also criticized Congress leaders for misleading the public and urged them not to disturb the peace of the citizens of Gujarat while reaffirming the faith of the people in Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
The event also saw the presence of senior BJP leaders including minister Kuvarji Bavaliya, Darshan Vaghela, MP Chundu Shihora, deputy state president Varsha Doshi, former minister IK Jadeja and several others from the district and state level leadership.
The ceremony concluded with Jagadish Vishwakarma providing guidance to party workers and reinforcing the BJP’s commitment to farmers, small traders and artisans.
