Ahmedabad, Nov 26 (IANS) As part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, Ahmedabad district has completed digital verification of more than 70 per cent of its registered voters.
To ensure that no voter is left out, the district administration will organize special dedication camps in all assembly constituencies on November 29 and 30.
According to District Election Officer and Collector Sujit Kumar, there are a total of 62,59,620 registered voters in Ahmedabad district.
Of these, 38,61,473 voters have already returned their enumeration forms, while 5,11,123 voters have been marked under categories like transferred, duplicate entries, or dead.
So far, data of 43,90,817 voters has been digitalised, this figure represents completion of 70.15 per cent of the total voter base of the district. Even now, BLOs and their teams are going door-to-door to collect the remaining 18,40,341 pending forms.
To streamline the process, the administration will host special voter counting camps at specified locations in each assembly constituency.
Special Voter Count Camps will operate from 12 noon to 5 pm on Saturday, November 29 and from 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday, November 30, allowing voters to deposit their pending forms at designated locations in all assembly constituencies.
Voters can submit their filled enumeration forms at these camps along with any valid documents recognized by the Election Commission of India to strengthen the accuracy of the voter list. The Collector has appealed to all the eligible voters to cooperate by submitting their pending forms soon.
The objective of the SIR campaign is to create a clean, error-free and transparent voter list, strengthening the foundation of democracy. Citizens have been urged to consider it as a civic responsibility and take full advantage of the special camps to get their names correctly registered in the voter list.
Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is important as it ensures that the electoral rolls are accurate, updated and free from errors, allowing every eligible citizen to exercise his or her democratic right without any hindrance.
By verifying entries, removing duplicate or transferred voters, and adding new or corrected details, SIR strengthens the integrity of elections and helps maintain a clean, transparent and reliable voter list that forms the backbone of a healthy democracy.
