New Delhi, Oct 13 (IANS) Pointing to the renewed enthusiasm in the city’s markets, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday lauded the GST reforms announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as making people believe that public welfare is the government’s top priority.

He said that this decision is related to the basic needs of every household, savings of every family and expectations of every citizen.
“In some places, this decision has brought stability to the household budget being managed by a single mother, in some places, peace has returned to the faces of small traders,” the chief minister wrote.
Reflecting on the positive impact of the GST decision, CM Gupta said: “There is excitement, vibrancy in the markets of Delhi, and most importantly, public welfare is the top priority of the government.”
Earlier, he had said that traders and small businessmen in the national capital have started getting GST refunds in their bank accounts as his government has expedited the process and is transferring the pending refunds.
He said that the Delhi government has returned Rs 694 crore to the accounts of traders and entrepreneurs ahead of the upcoming Diwali festival.
The Chief Minister said that the Delhi government is committed to provide GST refund to every business owner, big or small, within the stipulated time limit.
He appreciated the work of the GST department and the use of modern technology in the disbursement of GST refunds, which has resulted in faster credit of the outstanding amount into the bank accounts of businesses.
The Chief Minister also informed that the GST Department in collaboration with IIT-Hyderabad has developed an advanced IT module to make the refund settlement process faster and more transparent.
“This module is based on data analytics, data automation and rapid verification process, which ensures quick processing of refund applications,” he said.
CM Rekha Gupta said, “The Delhi government, inspired by the vision of PM Modi, is seriously pursuing the policy of ease of doing business. For this, redevelopment of major markets is being planned, and Delhi Traders Welfare Board has been constituted to address the problems of the business community and ensure hassle-free business operations.”
