“We are so excited to host Super Bowl 60 in our backyard!” said lead singer Armstrong. “We are honored to host MVPs who have shaped the sport and kicked off the night for fans around the world. Let’s have fun! Let’s shout it out!”
The ceremony will be broadcast live on NBC, Telemundo, Peacock and Universo at 3 p.m. Pacific time.
“Celebrating the 60th anniversary of Super Bowl history with Green Day as the hometown band while paying tribute to the NFL legends who helped define the sport is an incredibly powerful way to kick off Super Bowl LX,” said Tim Tubito, the league’s senior director of events and game presentations. “As we partner with NBC Sports for the opening ceremony, we look forward to creating a collective celebration for fans in the stadium and around the world.”
The opening ceremony will be preceded by pregame entertainment, with Charlie Puth singing the national anthem, Brandi Carlile singing “America the Beautiful,” and Coco Jones singing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
