New Delhi, Oct 22 (IANS) As election heat heats up in Bihar, sharp political exchanges have begun between the NDA and the grand alliance, with leaders of the ruling alliance launching a sharp criticism of the opposition’s internal rifts, accusing it of being “disorganized” and “riven by internal strife” over seat-sharing.
BJP Bihar state president Dilip Kumar Jaiswal attacked the opposition group, saying the alliance has exposed its “true face” to the people.
Taking a dig at the opposition’s alleged internal dissension, Jaiswal said, “The way the Grand Alliance has handled the selection of candidates and seat-sharing, its true face has been revealed before the people of Bihar. The Grand Alliance has now turned into a ‘Maha-Lathbandhan’, an alliance of lathi-wielders and anarchists.”
Expressing similar sentiments, JDU national spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad claimed that the NDA was headed for a “unilateral, decisive victory”.
“The opposition is completely disintegrated. They are fighting among themselves for seats. Even now, within the grand alliance, there is a fierce internal struggle going on on at least 12 seats,” Prasad said.
Pointing to the lack of unity and leadership in the alliance, he said, “They have not even decided who will be their leader; there is no clear communication between Rahul Gandhi and Lalu Yadav. Till now, top leaders of both their parties have not even come out for campaigning.”
Highlighting the NDA’s momentum, Prasad said, “Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has already addressed several public rallies. A dozen NDA chief ministers have come to Bihar for nomination rallies. The Home Minister has also visited Bihar, and Union Minister Amit Shah has already visited here, he has many more programs scheduled in the coming days.”
He said, “Undoubtedly, whether it is Chirag Paswan, Upendra Kushwaha or Jitan Ram Manjhi, all the NDA leaders are campaigning with full coordination. Meanwhile, the opposition has collapsed even before the elections have started.”
Supporting the NDA’s story, minister Ashok Chaudhary asserted that the grand alliance has “completely failed to work.”
“The alliance has completely broken down. There has been no joint press conference and each party is fielding its candidates on each other’s seats as well,” he said.
With elections approaching, the NDA is keen to project an image of unity and strength while portraying the opposition as fragmented and unprepared.
Voting in Bihar will be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11, 2025, and the results will be declared on November 14, 2025.
