Hyderabad, Oct 20 (IANS) Governors and Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Monday greeted people on the occasion of Diwali.

Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy greeted people on the occasion of the festival of lights.

The Governor said in his message that this festival of lights symbolizes the victory of religion over evil. He said, “I am sure that such opportunities inspire us to overcome the evils of modern times and build a society in which peace, harmony and communal harmony prevail.”

Verma appealed to the people to buy local products to celebrate this festival so as to bring new light in the lives of indigenous manufacturers in the true spirit of self-reliant India.

He said, “May this Diwali bring new ideas and promote new ideals to bring forth brightness, happiness and prosperity in the lives of people around us. I once again extend my warm wishes to the people of the state and wish them happiness and prosperity.”

Revanth Reddy in his message said that the People’s Government has brought new light in the lives of the people of Telangana and is striving towards achieving inclusive development by extending the benefits of welfare schemes to all sections of people.

The Chief Minister said that the festival of lights is being celebrated as a symbol of the victory of good over evil forces.

CM wished that people celebrate Diwali with joy and happiness and every house shines with the light of lamps. He appealed to all age groups to celebrate the festival without harming the environment and take proper precautions while bursting crackers.

Andhra Pradesh Governor Syed Abdul Nazeer greeted the people on the occasion. He said, “May the divine lights of Diwali bring peace, prosperity and happiness to all. Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. The lights of Diwali signify the time to destroy all our dark desires and thoughts, eradicate evils and provide us with the strength and enthusiasm to help each other. Such festivals give us a society full of peace, harmony, brotherhood and communal harmony. “

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also wished the people. He said, “This is the day when Shri Krishna and Satyabhama together killed the demon Narakasura who was troubling the world. Diwali itself means the festival that drives away darkness and brings light. I hope this Diwali festival will bring even more light in the lives of people. I wish the state shines with progress.”

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan extended warm Diwali wishes to all Telugu people. He said, “Every festival celebrated in our India has a deep meaning. It teaches us the way of life. We celebrate Diwali as a symbol of the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.”

“Inspired by Diwali, people have come together in a democratic fight to defeat the new age Narakasuras. These Narakasuras are like the Marichas. By changing their forms, filled with the anger of being defeated, they create discord among the people and conspire to incite unrest. Therefore, everyone should remain alert and continuously teach these new age Narakasuras and their followers a lesson. Should be taught. Women should adopt this spirit of Satyabhama,” the Jana Sena leader said.
