Chennai, Oct 20 (IANS) Governor RN Ravi and leaders cutting across party lines greeted the people of Tamil Nadu on Diwali and wished them happiness, peace and prosperity as the festival of lights illuminated homes across the state.
In his message posted on Twitter, Governor Ravi extended his warm wishes, saying, “May Goddess Lakshmi bless us with happiness, health and prosperity, fill our lives with love and compassion and promote a harmonious society rooted in peace and unity. Wishing everyone a joyous, vibrant and safe Diwali.”
The Governor’s message highlighted the spirit of unity and collective well-being that the festival symbolizes.
AIADMK general secretary and former chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, in his message, greeted the people and expressed hope for renewed harmony and progress.
He said, “On this joyous festival day, may love and peace flourish across the country; may all sorrows fade away, leading to a brighter and brighter future; may divisions fade away and may unity prevail; and may there be prosperity and happiness in the lives of all.”
Expelled AIADMK leader and former Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam also greeted people on the occasion and wished for peace and prosperity in every home.
Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K Selvaperunthagai, in his message, called on people to rise above political and social divisions and celebrate the festival with a spirit of inclusivity and compassion.
Leaders of other major political parties also joined in wishing the celebrations.
PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss and party president Dr Anbumani Ramadoss extended their good wishes, stressing the need for a pollution-free and safe festival.
Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi Katchi (KMDK) general secretary Er Easwaran, now Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) leaders GK Vasan and Su Thirunavukkarasar, among others, also wished people a happy Diwali, expressing hope that the festival will be celebrated for peace, prosperity and unity across Tamil Nadu.
Across political ideologies, the messages from leaders reflected a shared sentiment – that the festival of lights should renew the bonds of harmony and illuminate lives with hope for a brighter future.
