Governor Bhalla hails Manipur as a center of excellence in science and technology

Imphal, 24 September (IANS) Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Wednesday caught the convocation of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Manipur and appreciated the stable progress of the institute as the center of excellence in science and technology.

Addressing the 12th convocation of NIT, Manipur at the City Convention Center here, the Governor increased the stable progress of the Engineering Institute as the center of excellence in science and technology.

He urged students, teachers and all concerned to focus their attention on the vision of research, innovation and National Education Policy 2020.

Governor Bhalla congratulated the graduate students and accepted the role of parents, teachers and institute in their success.

The Governor advised graduates to maintain innovation, morality and values ​​and balance the tradition with meaningful contribution to society and nation.

He reminded the students that their knowledge and skills should be aligned with a large national mission of the creation of a developed India by 2047, where India emerges as a global leader in technology, stability and inclusive development.

Quoting the famous industrialist, Ratan Tata, Bhalla emphasized that the real education begins beyond the campus and encouraged the students to carry forward their aspirations with courage and honesty.

The governor distributed medals and PhD degrees to outgoing students of various departments. Former Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Bajrang Lal Bagra, and Chairperson, Board of Governors of NIT, Manipur, presided over the ceremony.

NIT Manipur launched its first session on August 2, 2010, with only three branches of engineering – Electrical Engineering and Communication Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering Government Polytechnic, Tekelpat Campus.

It is currently working in its permanent campus in Langol, Imphal, with two more engineering branches – mechanical engineering and civil engineering. The institute has acquired 341.5 acres of land in green areas of Langol, Imphal.
