Google has temporarily stopped its Gemini artificial intelligence chatbot from generating images of people. A day earlier, the tech giant issued an apology for “inaccuracies” in historical accounts of the chatbot’s creation.
After Google released the revamped Gemini in parts of the world on February 8, some users posted screenshots on social media earlier this week showing the chatbot in action. Inaccurately depicts white-dominated scenes with racially diverse characters.
For example, Gemini AI chatbot depicts Nazi-era military As people from different ethnic backgrounds.
The results generated by the tool prompted criticism and questions about whether the company overcorrected for the risk of racial bias in its AI models.
What does Google have to say about the controversy?
Shortly after the controversy, Google released a statement on and will re-release an improved version soon.”
We’re already working hard to resolve the latest issue with Gemini’s image generation functionality. While we do this, we are pausing character image generation and will re-release an improved version soon. https://t.co/SLxYPGoqOZ

Earlier Thursday, Google said the team became aware that Gemini had provided inaccurate information in some historical image generation descriptions.
It added: “We are working to improve such descriptions immediately. Gemini’s AI image generation does generate a wide range of people. This is usually a good thing because people around the world are using it. But it misses the mark.”

formerly known as bard chatbotGemini is the latest addition to the growing field of artificial intelligence.
It is a series of multi-modal large-scale language models designed for language, audio, code and video understanding.
The Gemini AI chatbot is powered by the Imagen 2 model, allowing users to generate high-quality images with textual prompts.
